the custom design process.

the process.

The most asked question I get is “How does the design process work?” - So let’s get into it!

step 1: secure your spot + begin

Once you have inquired, received your quote and secured your spot on my calendar - the fun begins.

We schedule a ‘Design Kick Off Call’ where we chat about all the details of your wedding vision. You’ll share images, Pinterest boards, design decks, likes, dislikes, outfit details, overall desires for how you want your wedding to feel, etc! Think all the nitty gritty with pretty visuals. I’ll definitely want to know what fro my portfolio caught your eye so we have a basis for your stationery idea. I also will assist in this department if you are feeling overwhelmed! Don’t worry, that’s what I’m here for. Let me guide you through this creative journey.

After the ‘Design Kick Off Call’ I will share with you a ‘verbiage intake form’ and a ‘guest address template’ so that you can provide all your wedding event information, important dates, names, website, etc in once place and then you can begin working on your guest addresses in our template right away! Both of these can take a little time so you’ll get started right away and send back over to Stephanie on an agreed upon date upon completion, to stay on target with your mailing date!

STEP 2: LET THE CREATIVITY FLOW

Once I feel confident in your wedding vision and details, the brainstorming and sketching is scheduled to begin.

I will give you a start date for when I’ll begin the actual sketching, but absolutely always the brainstorming is happening aka the wheels are turning. While I’m drinking coffee, chasing around my kids, actually sitting with a pencil and paper - it’s always happening. I can’t turn it off even when I want to. So by the time I’m sketching, I really have concrete ideas in my mind that I feel confident presenting to you.

Then I’ll put together a ‘sketch proof’ that shares the color palette, inspiration images, sketches and written ideas - so it’s a rough outline of the direction I’ll take, if you approve, one I begin getting into the real painting and designing. You will receive 3 rounds of this and all additional incur a fee.

Once you approve the sketch, we move to the official stationery proofs! I’ll choose paper colors, paint all the artwork, play with layouts and fonts and all the things to bring your stationery to life. This is where the real fun happens because it truly becomes real! You will receive 3 rounds of this and all additional incur a fee.

step 3: final steps

We have completed your stationery suite and you’ve seen a digital mock up of the whole design and have approved all the things! [ Nothing moves forward without your knowledge and consent ]

Now you pay your deposit, sign off on the final proof and then I get all your design files formatted to go to print. All of our stationery is printed by outside vendors who we have carefully vetted and trust their quality and professionalism.

As your stationery begins arriving in the studio, Stephanie keeps it all organized by client. When everything is received, my team and I will begin the assembly. Since most of our clients choose a completely hands off experience and trust us to handle everything, this means we are adhering envelope liners, tying ribbon, adding wax seals, stacking stationery inside the envelope in a decorative way, adding postage and finally - bringing all the sealed envelopes to the post office to mail!

final step: celebrate!

Woohoo, we did it!! As much as the experience of going full custom with us is hands off for you, there is still a level of collaboration required from you! We’ll need you to share your thoughts and opinions, you’ll put together your guest list and you’ll do final looks to make sure the information is all accurate before we print. So we thank you for being so wonderful and timely because it makes the whole process much more enjoyable!
